Baba Yaga
Understories
Nik, the artist behind Baba Yaga, has always been enamored with the hidden worlds along the forest floor. Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, she spent a childhood surrounded by nature…from ocean beaches to the deep woods. They are familiar places filled with memory, magic, and secret treasures.
Primarily self-taught, Nik developed her own style and method of jewelry and art-making over many years. Baba Yaga, literally translated as “ugly grandmother”, has been a labor of love; a line of artisan jewelry that is as unique, beautiful, and enduring as it is wearable. The pieces are meant to possess a depth of texture, detail, and wonder.
An opening reception (for this, and two other exhibits) will be held on on Sunday, December 3rd from 1pm-3pm at Newport Visual Arts Center. All are welcome, and admission is free.
Exhibits at Newport Visual Arts Center (VAC) are free to the public and can be viewed most Wednesdays through Sundays, from 12pm – 4pm, at 777 NW Beach Drive in Newport.
